DAYTIME TRAVEL

Day 1: BELGRADE – GRAZ
Meet at the city center of Belgrade at 5:30 AM. Departure at 6:00 AM. Daytime drive through Croatia and Slovenia with occasional breaks for refreshment and restroom stops. Arrival in Graz in the late afternoon. Graz is the second largest city in Austria and the capital of the federal state of Styria. It is located in the pre-Alpine area, with the Mur river flowing through the city. Guided tour of the city center. Graz’s historic center was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1999 as a remarkable example of harmonious coexistence of typical buildings from different historical periods and architectural styles. Free time for independent exploration. Accommodation at the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 2: SALZBURG
Breakfast. Continue to Salzburg. Tour of the city famous as Mozart’s birthplace and for its baroque architecture. Walk and sightseeing outside: Mirabell Palace with beautiful gardens, the house of famous conductor Herbert von Karajan, the main pedestrian zone with baroque palaces, Mozart’s birthplace, Cathedral... Free time for lunch and individual activities. Optional: visit to Hohensalzburg Fortress with a funicular ride, one of the largest medieval castles in Europe. The fortress offers a stunning view over the city. Accommodation in a hotel in the Salzburg region. Overnight stay.

Day 3: MONDSEE – ST. GILGEN – ST. WOLFGANG – SCHAFBERG
Breakfast. Around 8:30 AM departure for a fairytale excursion starting with a visit to the town of Mondsee on the eponymous lake. Mondsee Lake, mysterious like its name meaning “Moon Lake,” along with the other lakes in the Salzkammergut region, charms all visitors with its pure natural beauty. Next, visit St. Gilgen, birthplace of the mother of one of the most respected composers – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Walk along the lake to the old town center of St. Gilgen. The narrow streets resemble coastal towns, and everything is so charming you won’t know where to look first. We will stay here until 12 PM, then continue by boat to the picturesque town of St. Wolfgang on the lake shore, visited year-round. Walk to Kirchen Square and admire the richly decorated church with Pacher’s altar, the most beautiful church in the Austrian lake area. Free time for lunch. Then, complete this magnificent experience with an optional excursion on the historic cog railway from St. Wolfgang to the summit of Schafberg Mountain in the Northern Alps. Enjoy a breathtaking ride through stunning landscapes to the viewpoint at 1783 meters elevation, with views of incredible lakes and charming towns above the sparkling lakes of the Salzkammergut at the foot of the Alps. The ride takes 35 minutes one way. On the summit, you’ll find another surprise – it feels like you’ve reached the edge of the world! About one hour stop at the Schafbergspitze viewpoint. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.

Notes:

  • The optional “Alpine Landscapes of Schafberg” excursion is organized from St. Wolfgang, so registration is mandatory for both this and the “Mondsee, Wolfgangsee” excursion.

  • The order of visits may change depending on the boat and train schedules.

  • In April, the train does not go to the Schafbergspitze summit but only to the Schafbergalm intermediate station.

Day 4: HALLSTATT – BELGRADE
Breakfast. Check-out from the hotel. Drive to one of Austria’s most beautiful towns – Hallstatt on the shores of its eponymous lake. Tour the romantic town with its historical atmosphere, from the county church, through the main town square to the fishermen’s houses. Optional visit to the old salt mine, one of Austria’s top attractions. We recommend the “Skywalk,” a spectacular viewpoint above Hallstatt on Salzberg Mountain, followed by lunch and rest at the Rudolf Tower restaurant. Continue traveling through Slovenia and Croatia with short breaks for rest. Arrival at the departure point after midnight.
